Best Practices When Preparing for a Trip
- Arrange an SOS test before going off-grid to acquaint yourself with this critical feature.
- Keep your ZOLEO easily accessible. Fastening it to your clothing is better than attaching it to something that you could get separated from.
- Ensure those travelling with you know where your ZOLEO device is located and how to trigger an SOS. You never know who may need to send an alert!
- Familiarize yourself with the SOS instructions written directly on your ZOLEO device.
What Happens During an SOS
When your SOS alert is received, our emergency response coordination partner, Global Rescue, will have your GPS coordinates and the remaining battery life percentage of your ZOLEO device. They will continue receiving location updates from your device every six minutes. Global Rescue’s team will confirm the alert and contact the necessary authorities to dispatch help. On the ZOLEO device, the SOS LED will double-blink red when your SOS has been confirmed.
Using the app, you’ll automatically receive progressive updates, and you can exchange messages directly with the emergency response team until the situation is resolved.
Update Your SOS Contacts
When you activate an SOS, Global Rescue may reach out to your emergency contacts. If they do, they will identify themselves and may request additional information about you or your trip plan. For this reason, it’s important to review the SOS contacts associated with your ZOLEO account and keep your SOS contacts informed of your plans.
